Above all, I enjoy learning how things work and figuring out ways to improve upon them.
My architectural design professor said computers were a crutch. He warned our class against becoming heavily reliant on this communication tool. Computers are not simply tools, however. Computers have allowed me to visualize and better understand the things I create.
I understand computers aren’t perfect. I can create anything within virtual space, but they cannot tell me if my project is sensible. I often find myself diving into the technical details of a project before focusing on the aesthetic aspect. I design in this manner to try to avoid problems relating to cost, assembly, and use as the project progresses.
My greatest drive is to be able to bring life to a project. I enjoy being involved in each phase, from initial concept creation to refining the design based on limitations that come up. Upon a project's completion, I usually feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment.
